Drake new music comes face to face with Michael Jackson’s album
The ‘Official Charts’ have reported that Drake’s new album ‘ICEMAN’ is up for the top spot
Drake’s latest album, ICEMAN is set to go neck in neck with Michael Jackson’s The Essential Michael Jackson, which regained popularity after the success of the release of the musical biopic, Michael, based on the life of the King of Pop.
ICEMAN, with its album cover paying homage to MJ, is looking to freeze the Thriller hitmaker out of top spot on the Official Charts.
The LP is currently on course to join Views (2016), Scorpion (2018), Dark Lane Demo Tapes (2020), Certified Lover Boy (2021), Her Loss (2022) and For All The Dogs (2023) as the Canadian superstar’s seventh chart-topping record.
With Make Them Cry leading the way for this week's Number 1 single, it could spell a first Official Chart Double from a rap artist since 2020.
Moreover, Drake’s two other LPs MAID OF HONOUR (3) and HABIBTI (4), also released last week, are tracking for Top 5 finishes too.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry’s compilation The Ones That Got The Plays looks to elevate further up the chart, sitting just outside the Top 10 currently (11).
Rock n’ roll five-piece The Karma Effect are eyeing a second Top 20 accolade, and their highest-charting album to date, with Cruel Intentions at Number 13 midweek.
They made their Official Albums Chart debut in 2024 with Promised Land, which peaked at Number 19.
German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk could see Radio-Activity, their 1975 classic inspired by their obsession with all things nuclear, make its maiden Top 40 entry thanks to a special 50th anniversary reissue to the project (16).
