Trump mourns TV mogul and CNN founder Ted Turner's death
Trump's response to the death of CNN founder Ted Turner comes on Truth Social
President Trump honoured TV mogul Ted Turner following his death on Wednesday, calling the CNN founder "one of the greats of all time" while bemoaning the changes in the network after it was sold.
Taking to Truth Social, he writes that "Ted Turner, one of the greats of all time, just died. He founded CNN, sold it."
The president adds that the late trailblazer had been “personally devastated” by "the deal because the new ownership took CNN, his baby, and destroyed it."
Slamming the network's editorial direction, Trump pens, "It became woke, and everything that he is not all about."
But the president notes future owners could change what he believes the past CNN's prestige was.
"Maybe the new buyers, wonderful people, will be able to bring it back to its former credibility and glory."
"Regardless, however, he is one of the Greats of Broadcast History and a friend of mine. Whenever I needed him, he was there, always willing to fight for a good cause! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Turner, who died at 87, founded CNN, the first 24-hour TV news network, in 1980. Then, in 1996, his company, Turner Broadcasting, merged with Time Warner to expand.
It is unclear what the cause of his death is.
