Drake hits big milestone after wild ice tower stunt
The milestone comes weeks ahead of Drake's hotly anticipated album 'Iceman'
Ahead of Iceman, Drake is drawing attention from his recent frozen stunt in Toronto by placing large blocks of ice in the city.
However, that is not the only thing that is sparking renewed interest among hip-hop lovers.
Instead, the latest point of excitement for Drake's fans is his ranking on Spotify.
In the list of all-time most-streamed artists on the platform, the One Dance hitmaker is the top rapper ever and the third artist overall.
It is a stunning feat for the Toronto rapper, given big-shot names in the list, including Eminem and Kanye West.
Meanwhile, the hype of Iceman – Drake's ninth studio album – is at its peak, thanks to his icy stunt.
However, the 25-foot ice block became a headache for city officials because it drew a legion of fans, armed with flammable items.
This wild reaction posed a potential threat to public safety, so under the orders of Fire Chief Jim Jessop, the frozen sculpture was hosed down.
Despite the icy structure being brought down, Olivia Chow, the mayor of Toronto, praised Drake for his unique promotional style.
“Drake is a big supporter of our city, and there’s so much excitement across our city towards this new album, The Iceman,” she said during a press conference. “I’m excited too; it’s going to be a great summer … but please, be safe.”
Iceman will drop on May 15.
