Jessica Vosk gets honest about doing Broadway show 'Beaches'
Jessica Vosk reveals how she feels playing Cee Cee Bloom 'every single night' on Broadway's 'Beaches'
Jessica Vosk has finally revealed how she feels when the audience sobs while she plays her most intense role during Broadway’s Beaches.
For those unaware, the show is based on Iris Rainer Dart’s bestselling novel of the same name, which was originally published in 1985 and later adapted into a film released in 1988.
Beaches is about an “intense 30-year friendship between two very different women. And throughout the years, their bond survives years of rivalries, failed marriages and, ultimately, devastating losses.”
Vosk had a conversation with PEOPLE magazine about her Broadway experience, especially playing an emotional character, Cee Cee Bloom, alongside Kelli Barrett’s Bertie White.
She told the outlet that it feels “terrible” when the audience become emotional during her performance.
Vosk said, “Those last 20 minutes of the show, the audience is kind of a puddle, and I can feel that as the person sitting on stage wrapping the show up. It's like hearing sobs from the audience as it happens, but it's human and it's really necessary.”
The 42-year-old actress and singer went on to share that “every show is a great moment of gratitude for me knowing that an audience is feeling whatever it is that they're feeling.”
“It’s an honor to do that every single night,” Jessica Vosk, the crooner of Two Steps Ahead, admitted.
It is pertinent to mention that Beaches, A New Musical, which opened at the Majestic Theatre on April 22, 2026, will mark its end on September 6, 2026.
