The Buffalo Sabres acquired veteran centre Sam Carrick from the New York Rangers in a late night trade, adding depth to their roster ahead of the playoff push.
The Sports Net reported the deal shortly before 10:30PM ET on Thursday, while additional details about the trade were not immediately available.
Carrick, 34, is a centre from Markham, Ontario and was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
Over the course of his career, Carrick has played parts of 10 NHL seasons and has suited up for the Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers and most recently the New York Rangers.
This season, Carrick appeared in 60 games with the Rangers, recording four goals and six assists nad also registered 29 blocked shots and 86 hits.
Across 380 career NHL games, Carrick has scored 38 goals and added 45 assists for 83 total points. He has also recorded 701 hits during his career.
