Melissa Joan Hart drops nearly 20 lbs with ONE simple diet change
The actress and director shared secret behind her surprise weight loss at 50
Melissa Joan Hart is sharing insights into her "longevity journey,” which also includes losing weight just by a minor change in her diet.
The actress, who turned 50, revealed that despite perimenopause symptoms she she dropped nearly 20 lbs. by only cutting out sugar and alcohol.
The Clarissa Explains It All alum told People that she was working out “really hard” as part of “a health journey, like a longevity journey.”
“I just wanted to feel better. It had nothing to do with losing weight. I really didn't think I could lose weight anymore, being in midlife and perimenopause and all those things, I was like, ‘Can I really lose weight? I don't think I can,'" she continued.
Considering her hormonal changes during perimenopause, which tends to make women "gain weight around the abdomen” according to Mayo Clinic, but Hart managed to lose “about 18 pounds last year.”
She just wanted to “feel better”. “And in doing that and discovering fasting and cutting sugars and cutting alcohol — I haven’t had a drink in over a year," Hart noted.
“I just don't even enjoy drinking. So why bother? So I cut these things out of my life, and I started to feel better. And in doing that, I lost a lot of weight and kind of feel great," she continued.
Though she does not like drinking water, Hart is trying to keep herself hydrated.
“My husband says when I drink a glass of water, I make a face like it's the most disgusting thing on earth," Hart noted, adding she is discovering different types of tea these days for her hydration.
“I'll do hot tea, cold tea, green tea, peppermint tea, any kind of tea."
