Jennifer Aniston shares rare political opinion amid Minneapolis protests

Jennifer Aniston, a well-known star, has often avoided commenting on politics. But her post on Sunday comes as a rare break from her usual silence.

She reposted a statement of Alex Pretti's parents, who were fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis.

Initially, Sen. Bernie Sanders shared the message of theirs, which reads, "We are heartbroken but also very angry," the parents wrote. "Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends, and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital."

The federal agents, meanwhile, defended their action on the basis that Pretti was armed. However, in the statement, his parents rejected the account.

They state, "The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting."

"Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed."

"Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you," the statement ends.

This is not the first political stance Aniston has recently taken in the wake of what some experts say is growing polarization in American society.

Her defense of Jimmy Kimmel after his suspension is another one. She told Elle Magazine, “Unthinkable things are happening.

“It’s very dangerous and very unfortunate. But at the end of the day, we’re the viewers. We subscribe to these networks and streaming services, so it really comes down to the people and their voices. All those subscription cancellations spoke volumes," Aniston concluded.
