Anthropic rolls out healthcare features for Claude AI amid OpenAI push
Users can now choose to connect their medical records directly to the platform
Anthropic has unveiled a new health-focused upgrade for its Claude AI, stepping up competition in the fast-growing digital health space.
Under a new initiative called Claude for Healthcare, the AI company said US users on its Claude Pro and Max plans can now choose to connect their lab results and medical records directly to the platform.
The feature works through HealthEx and Function, with Apple Health and Android Health Connect integrations set to roll out later this week via Claude’s mobile apps.
Anthropic said the tool allows Claude to summarise medical history, explain test results in plain language, spot patterns across health as well as other forms of records.
The goal, the company said, is to make conversations with doctors more productive and help people better understand their own health.
The move comes just days after OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health, which offers similar tools for securely linking medical records and wellness apps.
Anthropic stressed that the new integrations are private by design. Users decide exactly what data to share and can edit or remove access at any time.
The company added that health information connected to Claude will not be used to train its AI models.
