Prince Andrew faces growing pressure to cooperate with FBI
King Charles urges ‘disgraced’ brother Andrew to assist FBI investigation
Prince Andrew is facing mounting pressure to cooperate with the FBI following new revelations in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
According to a royal expert, investigators had been urging the former Duke of York for years to assist in the probe into Epstein’s criminal activities, however, he has so far refused.
Royal expert Charlotte Griffith told TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan that King Charles is keen for Andrew to participate, noting he could provide testimony remotely via Zoom without traveling to the US.
The expert continued, “Now he clearly doesn't want to do this; he's clearly reluctant to do this, but with each new revelation the pressure on him grows to cooperate with the FBI.”
“I do think he will eventually do the right thing, but I don't think through a sense of decency; the pressure will just become completely overwhelming,” claimed Griffith.
“It's such a shame, I suppose; it's one way for him that he didn't just do this in 2019, really, because if you just said, look, I'm going to help and go to cooperate, it would have done so much to help his reputation,” she added.
“Instead of letting it get this far, he's letting us out, get booted out of law, not forced to eventually speak. And the letters today in the papers said that he asked his lawyer, ‘Would it be okay for what would happen if he gave untrue statements?’
“Those, like, it was always intended to somehow give untrue statements. It's extraordinary, the whole thing, and I think he will buckle under the pressure.”
