Russell Brand slams ex Katy Perry's romance with Justin Trudeau

Russell Brand has finally reacted to ex-wife Katy Perry's new romance with politician Justin Trudeau.

Speaking to the crowd at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on Thursday, the 50-year-old comedian slammed the singer for dating the former Canadian Prime Minister.

“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her," said Russell. "I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look."

"I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,"  he added.

For those unversed, Katy and Russell were married from 2010 until 2012. Following her separation from Russell, the pop sensation got engaged to Orlando in 2019.

However, the relationship did not last long as the couple ended their engagement in June 2025. The exes share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, together.

Katy first sparked relationship rumors with Justin in July 2025 when they were seen on a date in Montreal, Canada.

At that time, an insider told People magazine that the two had an "instant connection.”

"They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said.

 “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common," the confidant added.

Katy and Justin made their public debut as a couple at a cabaret show in Paris in October 2025.
