Rob Reiner, wife Michele Singer's murder sparks theory of infamous 'Stand By Me curse'
Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were brutally killed inside their Los Angeles house recently.
The death of the director of beloved film Stand By Me has sparked theories about Hollywood curse. Insiders recently told Radar Online that Rob and Michele's killing have reignited whispers of tragedy of those connected to Stand By Me.
A veteran producer told the outlet, "People are openly calling it a curse again. You look at what happened to Rob, River Phoenix, and the trauma others carried for decades, and it feels like a pattern people can't ignore."
Meanwhile, an industry insider noted, "It's irrational, but grief always looks for meaning. Talk of the 'Stand By Me curse' film keeps resurfacing whenever tragedy strikes anyone involved in its making."
The film, based on Stephen King's novella The Body, starred River Phoenix, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, and more. While the cast earned fame with the film, several also faced public struggles.
In 1993, River also passed away at the age of 23 in Los Angeles due to drug overdose. The young star's death shocked Hollywood and still remains one of the most tragic story of a child stardom ending in a catastrophe.
"River's death was the first crack in the idea that Stand By Me was just a beautiful nostalgia piece. After that, people started talking and saying a curse hung over the movie," a music executive said.
