Taylor Swift praised for sweet gesture towards Simu Liu
Simu Liu shared the role that Taylor Swift played in his love life
Simu Liu has made a surprising confession about Taylor Swift and the unexpected role she played in one of the most meaningful moments of his life.
The Shang-Chi star revealed that the global pop icon helped elevate his romantic proposal to fiancée Allison Hsu during a trip to Paris earlier this year.
The story came to light during Liu's appearance on The Tonight Show, where he shared the details with host Jimmy Fallon.
Explaining the inspiration behind reaching out to Swift, Liu noted that his fiancée's connection to the singer runs deep.
"My fiancée works in music, she’s a digital marketing executive, and she grew up a Swiftie," he said.
"She loves Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift's songs and her music, that was a big part even in the beginning of our relationship, was getting to know [my fiancée] through those songs and why they meant so much to her."
Realising how significant Swift's music was to their love story, Liu decided to take a chance.
"So I was like, well, if there's one person that would make this engagement so special, and I reached out, as if we're BFFs," he joked.
"No, I mean, I met her a couple times, she's fantastic, but I reached out to Taylor through her publicist, and I said, 'Hey, is there any way that I could convince you to make a two second video just to say congrats?'"
To his delight, Swift did not hesitate to help. Just days later, the Anti-Hero hitmaker delivered what Liu describes as the perfect finishing touch.
"She literally, two days later, sent it over and I was able to play it for her, and so, Taylor Swift was the cherry on top!" he shared.
Liu concluded with praise for the singer, adding, "She is just so nice and sweet."
