Kevin Costner shares views on faith amid 'Christmas' special
Kevin Costner invited people to join him as he talks about the first 'Christmas' in new special
Kevin Costner is back on screen, this time embracing the holiday spirit with his new ABC special, Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas.
In a conversation with Us Weekly, the actor revealed he is ready to speak more openly about his faith and the spiritual roots of Christmas.
“Well, it’s the first Christmas, it’s the birth of Christ … I grew up in the church,” Costner shared while attending the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala.
“And so hopefully, whether you’re a believer, or whether you’re a cynic, or whether you’re just curious about the real story behind the traditions of Christmas, I just invite people to journey back with me.”
The special, which aired on December 9, 2025, puts Costner in storyteller mode as he reflects on why the season endures.
“They say Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. A chance for families to gather together and celebrate the amazing story of a newborn king,” he said in the project.
He also added, “Whether you’re a believer or just curious about the tradition, journey back with me, Kevin Costner, for the story of the first Christmas like you’ve never seen it before.”
