Many know Pamela Anderson for her name. But it turns out it's not her real name; it's a stage name.
Instead, she reveals her actual name is Pamela Hyytiäinen. This name was born out of the decision her grandfather made decades ago, when they arrived in Canada from Finland, to assimilate more easily.
But now years have passed, and The Naked Gun star wants to reclaim her real name. "Sometimes I don't want to be Pamela Anderson," she tells Vogue. "I want to be Pamela Hyytiäinen. I would like to change my name, but they won’t let me."
Though she did not specify who would not let her change it. But what the actress shares elsewhere in the interview is the bond she shared with her grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen.
Calling him "the closest person" to her, Pamela explains that he taught her family Finnish, the native language. However, her fluency in it died down with him with his passing. She was 11 at the time.
On the other hand, the 58-year-old has been exploring different identities over the years, stating, "My imagination has run wild with me over the years. I’ve been trying different people on for size. You have to peel it all back, many times, and start over and over again."
Pamela, meanwhile, is dating her co-star Liam Neeson. They met on the set of The Naked Gun and found each other's company good, leading to a romance that, at first, reports said was for PR, but the actress denied it.
