Dick Van Dyke reveals why Mary Tyler Moore got upset with him
Dick Van Dyke opens up about his cherished memory with the late Mary Tyler Moore
Dick Van Dyke has finally revealed why his longtime friend Mary Tyler Moore once got upset with him.
On November 30, the 99-year-old American actor and comedian hosted a Vandy High Tea at his Malibu, California residence to raise funds to benefit the Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the in-development Dick Van Dyke Museum.
At the charity event, Dyke reminisced about drawing a caricature of the late American actress and film producer, which she rejected at first glance.
Dyke, who will turn 100 on December 13, 2025, told his guests that Moore made him redraw his cartoon of her because his first attempt “pissed” her.
He recalled, “I made her mouth too big, and she was so pissed at me.”
The Bye Bye Birdie star went on to share, “I had to go back and draw it again. I mean, she had a beautiful mouth, but it was generous.”
For those unaware, Moore passed away due to cardiopulmonary arrest at the age of 80 on January 25, 2017.
It is pertinent to mention that the legendary Hollywood star had been battling with Type 1 diabetes, which contributed to her death along with major complications caused by pneumonia.
