Jennifer Meyer reveals how divorce strengthened her bond with Tobey Maguire

Jennifer Meyer is looking back at her divorce with Tobey Maguire and how things settled between them after almost a decade of separation.

On December 1, Meyers made an appearance on The Inside Edit podcast with host Maeve Reilly and they shared their experience with the same couple therapist.

Meyer also revealed how Gwyneth Paltrow made her realize that divorcing Maguire would cause some advantages for their family in the long run.

"I actually think that my divorce has been one of my greatest teachers, because it teaches you patience," Meyer said.

It is pertinent to mention that Spiderman star and Meyer tied the knot in 2007 and welcomed two kids, daughter Ruby, 19, and son, Otis, 16. The pair parted their ways in 2016, and Meyers filed for divorce in 2020.

Meyers went on to say, "Our daughter was 10 or something. Those are some intense times that you need to stay connected. And then we had a son who was 7."

"It's like you're raising kids at an intense time. But he is wonderful and I got lucky for that. And my life— it was not easy every day, and I'm sure he would say the same thing, 100 percent, and we definitely had to overcome some big hurdles."

The mom of two mentioned her meeting with Paltrow after she and her ex-husband got divorced in 2015, revealing how the pair's separation inspired her and how well they managed co-parenting. Paltrow connected Mayer to her therapist, who can give her a roadmap on handling the divorce.

"Everyone was making fun of conscious uncoupling at the time, but joke's on them. Joke's on those people making fun of it," Meyer recalled. "I called [Sadeghi] and then I had to say to Tobey, 'Hey, we're going to go to couple's therapy.' "

"I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him. Anything in the world, she added.
