Meghan Markle contacts estranged dad after shocking leg amputation

After Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, had an emergency surgery to amputate his leg, she has made contact with her dad.

The Duchess of Sussex's representative revealed the news to People as Thomas is still in intensive care.

“I can confirm she has reached out to her father," the spokesperson told the outlet.

This came shortly after Daily Mail reported that Thomas’s son, Thomas Markle Jr. revealed that the 81-year-old went through the painful surgery just below his knee on December 3, which took place in a medical center in the Philippines.

The surgery occurred after the circulation in Thomas' leg cut off due to a blood clot in his thigh, revealed Thomas Jr., explaining the condition as “life or death," causing his father's foot to turn “blue then black.”

An insider shared to People that the contact between Meghan and her father is very recent.

Moreover, Thomas Jr. revealed to Daily Mail that his and Meghan's father will be kept in intensive care and that “the next two or three days are critical” according to doctors.

It is pertinent to mention that Meghan and her father have been estranged since her marriage to Harry after he staged paparazzi photos and as per Meghan, he was not honest with her about his communications with the press.

In a previous interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan confessed that her bond with her father had been damaged permanently.

“I’ve lost my father,” she said at the time. “She had a father before this and now she doesn’t have a father. If Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.”
