Amid rumors that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently living different realities, an insider has come forward with insight into Buckingham Palace’s alleged plans for a potential divorce.
The news has been shared alongside Womans’ Day and according to the insider, “The palace is quietly drawing up contingency plans in the event of a split.”
Should it come to pass the source explains, “the thought is that Harry might push for a return to the UK,” however, based on past admissions by Meghan herself, there’s an understanding that it she “won’t want to come back from the US and that schism is potentially dangerous.”
For those unaware of the reasons behind these increased rumors, it all began when Prince Harry admitted to wanting some schooling in the UK for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
For this reason the insider explains that any divorce plans would look similar to the ones with Princess Diana “only this time, the language will be tighter and the penalties for breaking it heavier.”
“The agreement would also allow Meghan to keep using her Duchess of Sussex title,” because “the palace considers this a strategic move, fearing that removing it could trigger a media war.”
Regardless, the source adds, “whatever happens, the monarchy has to be ready. Meghan must not be met with hostility – this is about containment. The narrative must favour Harry’s return and Meghan’s choices.
Before concluding they also said, “this is low-key planning, but it is happening. The palace sees a worst-case scenario and wants to be prepared. They believe Meghan could walk away but also that Harry can come back. They want to plan for both eventualities.”
