Felicity Blunt weighs in on Stanley Tucci's unexpected online fame
Felicity Blunt offered insights into Stanley Tucci's emotional state post cancer battle
Felicity Blunt has made a candid confession about her husband Stanley Tucci's health struggles and the unexpected fame he gained online.
In a new chat with Tatler, Blunt reflected on how she felt when Tucci, who was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2017 after doctors found a tumor at the base of his tongue, became an internet sensation for his lockdown cocktail-making videos.
Stanley, 65, underwent grueling treatment during that period, leaving him feeling “less than himself,” Felicity explained.
“He had just come out of this period in his life where he felt less than himself,” she said.
“He loves to work out, and when you’re so ill, you can barely stand. And he would never have imagined being a thirst meme at that point, lying in a hospital bed, and suddenly, a couple of years later, the world is talking about his biceps.”
For context, five years ago, the now cancer-free actor charmed fans with his suave cocktail-making masterclass, which highlighted his bulging biceps and was set to classical music.
Blunt admitted that the public reaction to his videos felt especially meaningful given what he had endured.
“I was thrilled for him – honestly, it was owed,” she added.
Tucci previously revealed that being diagnosed with cancer years after his first wife Kathryn lost her own battle with the disease was “awful,” but he said the experience ultimately helped transform his life.
