James Cameron was left heartbroken post the death of 'Avatar: Fire & Ash World' partner Jon Landau
James Cameron has opened up about his heartbreak after learning of Jon Landau's death.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, Cameron recently paid tribute to his longtime collaborator and producing partner at the Avatar: Fire & Ash World Premiere on 1st December 2025.
It is noteworthy that Cameron, who worked alongside Landau on three of the highest-grossing films of all time, namely Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water, was among the first to publicly honor his late colleague.
A statement from PEOPLE Magazine at the time highlighted Landau's impact, describing the Oscar-winning producer's “zany humor, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will [that] have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades.”
“His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique,” Cameron said.
“He produced great films, not by wielding power but by spreading warmth and the joy of making cinema. He inspired us all to be and to bring our best, every day.”
“I have lost a dear friend, and my closest collaborator of 31 years,” Cameron added of Landau, who also served as COO of Lightstorm Entertainment.
“A part of myself has been torn away,” he reflected.
