Earlier this year, Leonardo DiCaprio starred in One Battle After Another, which received widespread praise from audiences.
Now, Paul Mescal, a critically acclaimed star, also called the movie his favourite in 2025. He shares his remarks on the red carpet at the British Independent Film Awards.
“One Battle After Another,” the star adds. “[A] great cinema-going experience. Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius.”
The star who recently appeared in Gladiator II gushes about Leonardo’s performance, calling it "phenomenal."
“The acting in it is phenomenal. It’s my favorite Leo [DiCaprio] performance, I think.”
Following this chat, Paul, later at the ceremony, surprised his Hamnet co-star Emily Watson with the Richard Award — a top award for the much-hailed actress.
Meanwhile, Paul, who plays William Shakespeare, previously said the lesson he learned from Hamnet "taught me many things, it’s that you can’t be a great version of yourself without the immense support from the people around you."
He further told E! News, "As a society, we’ve become individualized and need to carve out our own path. And actually, it’s a hell of a lot more enjoyable and more exciting to do that in contact with people with a real desire to love and be loved."
Hamnet is playing in US theatres.
