Jennifer Lopez mocked over 'ironic' new campaign
Jennifer Lopez's latest campaign has been a source of mockery for the singer
Jennifer Lopez has become the face of an engagement ring campaign, and the irony is not lost on the fans.
Lopez has become the global face of Turkish jeweler Zen Diamond and starred in ads showcasing the rings. The singer has reportedly paid $10million for the campaign.
But the On The Floor hitmaker has had bad luck in her own relationships, with four divorces and a total of six engagements.
Her most recent divorce was from actor Ben Affleck, whom she had dated previously in early 2000s.
A marketing insider with knowledge of the deal mocked the choice, saying, "People immediately started joking she would be seen as a curse on Zen's engagement rings. Who does she think she is being the face of engagement rings with her relationship history? And who is going to buy them?"
"Jennifer knew what the blowback would be over this, but she seemingly doesn't care. She wanted a campaign that kept her in cash," said another source, per Radar Online.
They added, "Whoever is behind marketing for Zen Diamond needs sacked!"
Despite the Kiss of the Spiderwoman star’s public divorces, Zen Diamond chairman Emil Guzelis is quite happy to have her be the brand’s face.
"Jennifer Lopez is more than an international icon – she represents power, authenticity and timeless beauty," said Emil.
Lopez’s divorce from Affleck was finalized in January. She has previously been married to Ojani Noa in 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, and Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014.
