Beaches resume operations after deadly shark attack kills Swiss tourist
A tragic shark attack involving two tourists occurred in New South Wales
A surprising incident of a shark attack has occurred on a remote New South Wales beach, resulting in the death of a woman and seriously injuring her partner.
The incident took place when a Swiss couple were swimming at Kylie's beach in the Crowdy Bay national park at dawn, and a three-metre bull shark severely attacked the woman and then her partner when he tried to save her.
The 25-year-old woman died instantly, while the man, 26, was taken to hospital where he was in a stable condition.
Officials have been scrutinizing the situation to better understand the actual cause of the incident.
Beaches were opened later after jet skis and any other surveillance vehicles had not specifically identified any sharks in the surroundings.
The MidCoast council mayor, Claire Pontin, expressed her sorrow at the loss of life and extended condolences to the families entangled in the incident.
In this connection, the Department of Primary Industries deployed five “smart” drumlines at Kylies beach after the serious attack.
The alerts have been issued to track sharks located at 1km offshore.
Concerning the serious situation, New South Wales beaches were closed today after frequent bull shark encounters, where schools of fish formed tight defensive masses to evade the predators.
The surge in shark bites occurred due to the increased water usage by residents, as well as other factors including environmental degradation, and unusual weather patterns.
Nonetheless, swimmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to be aware of any unusual situation in their surroundings.
