'Stranger Things' star gets candid about becoming dad
The star who plays Jonathan Byers in 'Stranger Things' became a father at such a young age
At just 20, Charlie Heaton, who portrays Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, became a dad.
Now, in an interview with Wonderland Magazine, he looks back at embracing fatherhood at such a young age.
"Being a young father, you have to grow up very fast," he shares, adding, "You have to also learn ethical priorities, too, and you’ve got to look after somebody."
"That’s a big thing," the actor continues as he shares his son with musician Akiko Matsura.
"You want to give them good experiences and a lot of love, and the hard part obviously is distance. But that’s part of the sacrifice."
His comments about his son, Archie, 11, are rare, as the star keeps his private life out of the public eye.
It is worth noting that Charlie is now dating his co-star, Natalia Dyer, who also plays his on-screen romance in the show as Nancy Wheeler.
Meanwhile, as the first batch of Stranger Things episodes is set to drop, Charlie, in his previous interview with GQ, said, "It can get extremely overwhelming."
"I remember the first season coming out and, like anyone, I remember reading a lot about what people thought – you’re getting used to people looking at your work."
