Uber teams up with Starship technologies to launch robot deliveries in UK
A major collaboration has been announced to launch autonomous robots
Uber has announced a major partnership with Starship Technologies to integrate autonomous sidewalk delivery robots into its Uber Eats platform, with plans to expand to additional European markets next year and the US in 2027.
This particularly marks a significant move to accelerate its use of last-mile delivery automation.
In this connection, Uber Eats consumers will be able to receive their orders via Starship’s robot deliveries in the Leeds and Sheffield areas.
The latest partnership is part of a series of deals Uber has struck with autonomous vehicle and technology companies as the company intensifies efforts to automate distinct aspects of its business to elevate growth.
It has been observed that Uber has already forged an alliance with Avride and Serve Robotics for robotic food delivery in the United States.
The company further stated that these partnerships will help to upgrade its systems while providing customers a smooth, and revolutionary delivery experience.
San Francisco-based Starship’s robots will operate at Level 4 autonomy, which means that they can operate without manual support within a specified area.
Additionally, the new deal will be a prominent strategic inflation point for Uber, solidifying its commitment to autonomy as the future backbone of its delivery experience and raising the bar high for the entire logistics industry.
