Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki are set to return to the silver screen with Netflix original rom com.
As per the statement by the stars, the upcoming film is based on Katherine Center’s bestseller The Bodyguard.
The project announced Thursday will be directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (Purple Hearts) and written by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith.
The cast includes Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde and Toby Sandeman.
The plot revolves around a ‘no-nonsense bodyguard’ with the assigned task to protect a ‘charming action star’ over the holidays.
Rosenbaum explained why she opted to make this movie.
“The overwhelming enthusiasm on social media and with readers for Katherine Center’s novel was a major factor in my decision,” she revealed.
“It makes the most gorgeous backdrop for the sparks that fly between them to be even brighter at that time of year. Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki are perfect as our leads.”
The movie’s title has not yet been decided.
The novel’s original title, The Bodyguard is already famously associated with the 1992 Kevin Costner-Whitney Houston classic.
The search for the name is going on with the Supernatural actor joking about it in the announcement video adding the hashtag #NotBodyguardTheMovie.
