TikTok is reportedly working on a new feature that will help users to identify how much AI-generated content they want to see on their feed.
The new move significantly showed the more advanced labeling technologies for AI-generated content.
The recent feature is specifically launched within the app’s “Manage Topics” section, allowing users to control the type of content they want to consume on TikTok platform.
It has been clarified in a previous blog post that the new AI-generated content control setting is used to adjust the frequency of content across over ten categories.
This feature will better help people tailor the variety of content in their feed rather than replacing the content completely.
The adoption of AI-exclusive feeds is accelerating, a trend signified by prominent tech companies such as Meta and OpenAI.
Similarly, Meta has launched “Vibes” in September, a new feed designed to create and share short, AI generated videos.
The new AI-generated content controls offer insights and allow users to now adjust their settings to see less of this content or choose to see more.
This is how one can access the new capability
TikTok already wants people to label AI-generated content and utilizes a cross-industry technology called Content Credentials from C2PA, which inserts metadata into content, and allows other platforms to know when something is AI-generated.
Consequently, TikTok remarks that this metadata can be removed if the content is edited on external platforms.
On the contrary, TikTok will add another layer of security with the new invisible watermark.
This watermark can only be read by the designated recipient, making it more difficult for others to remove.
The invisible watermarks to AI-generated content created using TikTok tools such as AI Editor Pro are designed to prevent removal. These watermarks will help to indicate if the content is more reliable.
TikTok’s system will continue reading C2PA’s Content Credentials and add them to AI-generated content created on its platform.
TikTok features help users to have control over their viewing experience by allowing them to opt-out or limit AI-generated content appearing in their feed.
In addition, TikTok has announced a $2 million AI literacy fund to focus on safety, and this initiative is part of their comprehensive strategies in this area.
