Over 3,000 file nomination papers for Quetta LG polls
QUETTA: More than 3,000 candidates have submitted their nomination papers to participate in the Quetta local government elections.
According to Election Commission officials, 3,121 candidates have filed nomination papers to contest in the first phase of the local government polls, which will be held across 641 wards of 172 Union Councils in Quetta. A breakdown of the submissions shows that Taktu Town received the highest number with 940 candidates, followed by Zarghoon Town with 918 contenders. Chiltan Town recorded 701 candidates filing their papers, while Sariab Town received 562 submissions.
Officials said that scrutiny of the nomination papers will begin today (Wednesday) and would continue until November 24. Polling in the 641 wards across 172 Union Councils is scheduled to take place on December 28.
