Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are marking a major milestone together, celebrating 25 years of marriage with memories, gratitude and a little nostalgia.
On Nov. 18, Zeta-Jones reflected on their silver anniversary by sharing a heartfelt Instagram post that took fans right back to their 2000 wedding day.
“25 years ago today, I walked down the aisle,” she wrote, describing the moment in vivid detail, from the “intoxicating aroma of flowers” to the candlelight and the Welsh choir that filled the room.
She added that Douglas was waiting for her “looking at me the way only you can,” finishing her message with, “I love you today as I did then. Thank you sweetheart.”
Her post included romantic snapshots, including photos from their wedding and a picture she captioned “My gaze…” showing the very first moment she ever looked at him.
Douglas shared a tribute of his own, posting a throwback photo of the couple with a simple but loving caption, “Happy 25th anniversary, my darling Catherine. Who knew? All my love, Michael.”
Their anniversary comes just months after they celebrated another sweet tradition, their shared birthday on Sept. 25.
At the time, Douglas posted a cosy photo of the two in a golf cart and wrote, “To my birthday sister—what a joy celebrating another year with you! Congratulations on your spectacular game at the Celebrity Ryder Cup.”
Zeta-Jones replied, “Happy birthday darling. I can’t think of anyone else to share a birthday with.”
The couple’s story began long before their Plaza Hotel wedding.
They first crossed paths at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998, after Douglas arranged a meeting because he had been impressed by her performance in The Mask of Zorro.
They met for a nightcap, where Douglas famously told her, “You know, I'm going to be the father of your children.” Zeta-Jones later joked that her reaction at the time was to politely say goodnight, only to discover years later that “he was right!”
Douglas proposed on New Year’s Eve in Aspen in 1999, and their family quickly grew.
Their son Dylan was born in August 2000, just a few months before their iconic wedding, which welcomed Hollywood giants like Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Goldie Hawn, Anthony Hopkins and Whoopi Goldberg.
Their daughter Carys arrived nearly three years later.
Now, 25 years since they said “I do,” the two continue to celebrate their bond, still sharing memories, milestones and plenty of love.
