Ariana Grande may have just hinted that the Wicked universe isn’t done expanding.
On Sunday, November 16, the pop star shared a video on Instagram showing her and co-star Cynthia Erivo speaking at a recent Wicked: For Good panel, where a playful comment immediately set off speculation.
In the clip captioned with an infinity sign, Grande teased the audience by joking, "You mentioned 'farewell tour.' If we've learned anything from Cher, we can count on there always being another farewell tour. So I don't think anyone's going anywhere."
A moderator quickly jumped in to ask whether she had just confirmed Wicked 3, prompting laughter from both stars and the crowd.
Grande, 32, shut it down with a smile, saying, “No, no, I don’t know,” before explaining that the upcoming film brings “a great peace” because “people will finally get to know the full truth of these women.”
The Grammy-winner added that she’s “really relieved people will finally get to see and know and love” Glinda in part two. “That feels like a big relief,” she said. And for Grande, saying goodbye isn’t on the table. “No one’s going anywhere… These characters will be a part of our hearts always.”
The actress also got emotional reflecting on the bond she formed with Erivo, calling their work together “really special” and “the greatest gift of my life.”
Universal hasn’t announced a third film, but with 14 Oz books and fans hungry for more, the door to Oz is far from closed.
