Rachel Zegler unfollows 'Snow White' costar Gal Gadot amid tensions
The leading ladies drew massive backlash ahead of the film's premiere earlier this year

Rachel Zegler is seemingly distancing herself from her Snow White costar Gal Gadot over political tensions.

Zegler, 24, is no longer following Gadot, 40, on Instagram, despite previously following her, the Daily Mail reported on November 18. However, the Wonder Woman star is still following the Hunger Games actress, per the publication.

Zegler and Gadot starred as Snow White and the Evil Queen respectively in the 2005 live action remake, which infamously flopped.

The film had sparked controversy in the months leading up to its release for various reasons, including its colour-blind casting, changes to the story, and the leading ladies’ criticism of the original 1812 fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Zegler and Gadot stood united during the film’s press tour and even praised each other.

But while they were united in their critique of the outdated and sexist themes in the original story, they were greatly opposed on one front: the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Gadot, who was born in Israel and served in the IDF, has not wavered from her support for Israel. Meanwhile, Zegler has been outspoken about her support for Palestine, even writing “Free Palestine” in the caption of Snow White’s official trailer release last year.

The conflicting stances brought massive backlash and calls for a boycott from both sides, with Snow White ultimately opting for an extremely toned-down premiere earlier this year.
