Tom Cruise just marked a big achievement in his career as he has received an honorary Oscar at the 2025 Governors Awards.
On accepting the accolade, the Mission: Impossible famed actor gave an emotional speech where he spoke about his passion for making movies.
He said, “Making movies is not what I do, it is who I am.”
“It helps me to appreciate and respect differences. It shows me also our shared humanity how alike we are in so many ways.”
The 63-year-old actor was presented with the prestigious award by Alejandro G Inarritu, with whom he is currently working on an untitled movie.
The Top Gun: Maverick star also highlighted how his love for cinema emerged at a very young age.
“I was just a little kid in a darkened theatre, and I remember that beam of light just cut across the room, and I remember looking up, and it seemed to be just exploding on the screen. Suddenly, the world was so much larger than the one that I knew.”
Internet has been going crazy with fans saying that he finally got what he deserved.
One of them wrote, “Proud moment for every single fan of Tom Cruise. Always proud to call Cruise fan.”
Meanwhile, another commented, “Congratulations. You career is nothing short of spectacular. Well deserved.”
A third fan expressed his emotions saying that he waited so long to see a picture of the action star with an Oscar.
“Man finally have I waited so long for a picture of Tom Cruise with an Oscar award. The way I’m crying is freaking crazy man. Literally freaking crazy omg. I’m freaking crying dude. Finally Tom gets it omg.”
