Tom Cruise fans get emotional after actor receives honorary Oscar

Tom Cruise just marked a big achievement in his career as he has received an honorary Oscar at the 2025 Governors Awards.

On accepting the accolade, the Mission: Impossible famed actor gave an emotional speech where he spoke about his passion for making movies.

He said, “Making movies is not what I do, it is who I am.”

“It helps me to appreciate and respect differences. It shows me also our shared humanity how alike we are in so many ways.”

The 63-year-old actor was presented with the prestigious award by Alejandro G Inarritu, with whom he is currently working on an untitled movie.

The Top Gun: Maverick star also highlighted how his love for cinema emerged at a very young age.

“I was just a little kid in a darkened theatre, and I remember that beam of light just cut across the room, and I remember looking up, and it seemed to be just exploding on the screen. Suddenly, the world was so much larger than the one that I knew.”
