It: Welcome t Derry’s fourth episode just premiered this weekend leaving fans traumatised with the jump scares and terror spread by Pennywise.
Recently, the creator and Andy Muschietti and actress Matilda Lawler, who plays Marge in the series, spoke about the latest episode.
Andy also talked about the connection of this new episode with the season’s finale.
The fourth episode highlighted Marge’s fear with her new glasses that make her eyes look big. Her phobia increases as "It" decides to show up leaving her with hallucinations in which her eyes appear to grow ad bulge out of her face.
As she panics, she tried to cut her eyes out, but Lily, played by Clara Stack, stops her from harming herself. However, Marge still damages one of her eyes.
While speaking about her character, Matilda says that It “preys” on her insecurities that every teenage girl has at some point.
She told TV insider, “The scare scene with the eyes does have a centering effect on Marge and kind of causes her to reflect on her relationships and see the truth in a way and see that she belongs with her friend Lilly and with the Losers, and it’s ok for her to find herself elsewhere, not in the group that you know everyone thinks she should be in.”
On the other hand, Muschietti spilled a major tea about the finale episode saying that the Marge’s fear of glasses is there because of a very specific reason.
“There’s a specific reason that’s not going to be revealed until the very last episode for which she is wearing the Coke bottle glasses. And so we decided that [her fear] was about the eyes.”
