'Wicked' director addresses major argument regarding upcoming sequel
Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo's 'Wicked: For Good' is set to release on November 21
Director Jon M. Chu has discussed one most common argument revolving around the sequel of Wicked.
Ever since, the new sequel was announced, there has been a debate about the need of another film after the 2024 original movie.
Jon has been trying to give explanations to the question, and he has once again addressed the reason of Wicked 2.
The Crazy Rich Asians director explains Wicked: For Good as “meat”.
According to him, “That’s the whole point of Wicked. It’s the look back. Part One is about finding yourself. Part Two is about what those choices cost you.”
He is finally excited for the world to finally understand what Wicked really is with the new sequel.
The 46-year-old filmmaker said, “We made both films concurrently. One day we’d shoot a Shiz scene, the next a battle sequence. So, the stakes were always high.”
He went on to say, “I’m excited for the world to finally know what Wicked really is. After Part Two, people won’t see them separately. It’s one journey.”
The upcoming musical fantasy is set to reunite Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey.
Wicked: For Good is slated to come out in theatres on November 21, 2025.
