Sydney Sweeney’s career at risk after ‘The Housemaid’ draws fans’ ire
American actress Sydney Sweeney new movie ‘Christy’ tanked at the box office
Sydney Sweeney has recently landed in hot water after her upcoming movie, The Housemaid draws ire from online followers.
The actress’ acting career seems to be at stake as her new movie, Christy, bombed at the box office after grossing a meager $1.3million.
It is pertinent to mention that Sydney reportedly faced backlash because of her MAGA political leaning, involvement in an American Eagle advertising campaign and later her relationship with record executive Scooter Braun.
Therefore, a new trailer and promotional posters of The Housemaid, shared on movie’s Instagram account on November 13, has received negative reception from online users.
Some critics even threatened to boycott the movie which will release on December 19.
However, there are many claiming that they would only watch it to support Sydney’s co-star, Amanda Seyfried.
Reflecting on harsh online reaction, a reputation expert spoke to Daily Mail and shared some clever PR techniques to cool the mounting criticism.
“Sydney is evading damage because she never fed the beast: no apology tour, then straight back to work,” explained an expert.
Eric told the outlet, “Hollywood reads heat as currency, and she proved she can take a vicious wallop and survive. Guts with composure sells; audiences prefer confidence over contrition. It would be reckless debating eugenics semantics.”
“Sydney’s star persona is a weapon, and America - plus a lot of the world - like and gravitate toward her, and that's a jean covered bomb-proof reputation suit,” added an expert.
