Dwayne Johnson unveils his 'motto' for choosing new project
Dwayne Johnson opens up about having double thought signing 'The Smashing Machine'
Dwayne Johnson has opened up about staying in his comfort zone for a longer period in acting.
The Rock revealed that he had been in a comfort zone for prolonged period when he was featuring in high-budget Hollywood movies, but his recent film the Smashing Machine challenged him as an actor.
The Moana actor added, "I was in a comfort zone for quite some time.”
"Making these big films they’re hard to do, but they are comfortable. What I was scared of was exposing myself and exploring the deepest, darkest traumas”, he added.
While talking about his work decisions, Dwayne revealed that he has one simple ‘motto’.
"I used to have this motto, ‘Audience first””, he told Variety.
The Hobbs and Shaw actor confessed that he had doubts picking up the role in the sports drama film, but his co-star Emily Blunt convinced him to do the film.
While reflecting on his motto, Blunt told him, “I love that. It’s worked for you for decades now. But if you want to take care of the audience, show them a mirror of yourself. Isn’t that taking care of the audience too?”
Even though, the Smashing Machine did not perform according to the expectation, but it is being considered as Johnson’s best performance.
The film received a 15-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
