Oscar Isaac may be warming up to the idea of flying back into the Star Wars galaxy, but only if Disney meets one big requirement.
In a recent conversation with GQ, the actor shared that he’s no longer completely opposed to reprising his role as Poe Dameron, the Resistance pilot he first played in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
For years, Isaac had joked that he would only return if he “needed another house,” a comment he now looks back on with mixed feelings.
“Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ,” he said. “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly dickish thing.”
He explained that he is now “open to it,” but he’s not ready to jump back in without changes behind the scenes.
“Although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” he admitted, adding that his stance could shift “if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”
The interview reportedly took place shortly after ABC and Disney temporarily suspended Jimmy Kimmel following remarks he made about Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel returned four days later.
Isaac’s history with the franchise spans multiple projects, including The Last Jedi in 2017 and The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. He also voiced Poe Dameron in the animated series Star Wars Resistance.
Beyond Star Wars, Isaac has continued collaborating with Disney through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring in Moon Knight on Disney+ and serving as an executive producer on the series.
For now, Isaac isn’t shutting the door on Poe’s return, he’s just asking for the right circumstances before stepping back into the cockpit.
