Russell Crowe has recently revealed what motivated him to shed nearly 60 pounds after wrapping up his new movie, Nuremberg a year ago.
The Gladiator star reflected on the lifestyle change he made to lose weight during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast
Russell shared that he’s “a big proponent for having a drink”.
However, the Unhinged actor noted that as you get older, “there are certain things that you start to learn about your capacities”.
Russell confessed that now that he’s “an older guy,” it’s appropriate to drink only one night a week and then he tries to “cut out the interstitial stuff”.
But for now, A Beautiful Mind actor opened up that he had to wait “for a special occasion to drink”.
“If I decide I’m going to have a glass of wine with dinner, then it’s going to be a really nice wine,” mentioned the 61-year-old.
Russell further said that he tried not to have casual drinks now, as “having a drink for the sake of it. Those add up”.
The Robin Hood actor also admitted that a lot of his weight loss is because of his treatment for injuries he’s received over the years, including getting injections for “deeply arthritic” injuries in his shoulders and knees.
“It’s calmed down my body’s inflammation,” he remarked.
Russell told the podcast host, “What was messy a year ago, now has just lessened probably by about 70 percent. One area in right shoulder, probably by about 90 percent.”
Reflecting on his weight loss journey, the actor added that he’s taking the transformation “really slowly but its’ all good good”.
The actor says he’s still taking the transformation “really slowly,” but so far, “It’s all going good.”
