Jeremy Renner caught in controversy after new accusations surface
Jeremy Renner breaks silence after claims of explicit messages
Jeremy Renner found himself in the headlines again after Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou accused him of sending her inappropriate messages and threatening to involve immigration authorities.
The Avengers star, however, has firmly denied all claims, calling them false and damaging.
Renner’s attorney, Marty Singer said the filmmaker’s story was a complete fabrication made out of revenge after he turned down her romantic interest and chose not to support her movie projects.
Singer described the allegations as “outrageous” and said Renner has done nothing wrong.
Yi Zhou claimed the actor sent her explicit photos in June and became aggressive when she confronted him.
She alleged that Renner warned her he would “call ICE,” referring to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
The actor’s legal team shared a different account, saying the two only met twice.
Their first meeting reportedly happened in July in Reno, Nevada, during an interview for Zhou’s documentary Chronicles of Disney.
Singer added that their interaction was kind of short and consensual, and that they didn’t speak since their second meeting in August.
According to Singer, Zhou later began sending Renner hundreds of unwanted messages, which continued for months.
He claimed her final message came in late October and that the star stopped responding long before that.
“Ms Zhou has relentlessly pursued my client for months without any response,” Singer said in his statement.
For the unversed, Zhou’s representatives have yet to respond publicly to Renner’s comments.
