Robert Pattinson doesn’t mind turning back the clock, at least on screen.

The actor joked that he would happily step into a teenage role again if the opportunity came his way.

While speaking with Jennifer Lawrence during a Vanity Fair polygraph interview, Lawrence asked whether he would return as Edward Cullen in a new Twilight sequel if directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, with whom he made Good Time in 2017.

Pattinson didn’t hesitate. “Oh yeah, for sure,” he said.

When Lawrence gently objected, “I don’t think you should”, he doubled down with a laugh, replying, “It would be great! I like taking jobs of younger actors. I do. I want to play 17 again.”

He even threw in a nod to Zac Efron’s comedy 17 Again, joking, “There’s a movie, Zac’s movie.”

Pattinson, who first became widely known for portraying teen characters in his late teens and early twenties, acknowledged that his career began young.

He first appeared on screen in films like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire before skyrocketing to fame as Twilight’s eternally youthful vampire.

During the interview, he and Lawrence also playfully debated whether he counts as Gen Z.

Lawrence reminded him of the time he “cold FaceTimed” her, which she found surprising. Pattinson replied that it was normal because, “I am” Gen Z.

Lawrence wasn’t convinced. “You’re not Gen Z, you’re a millennial… I believe that you believe that you’re Gen Z,” she said. When she asked what year he was born, he playfully dodged with, “It doesn’t matter.”

The pair star together in Die My Love, which follows Grace and Jackson, a couple who settle into an old country house.

After welcoming a baby, Grace begins to struggle under the pressures of isolation and domestic life, eventually unraveling as her husband spends more time away.

Die My Love is now playing in theaters.
