Ben Affleck's 'filthy mouth' almost cost actor his career
‘Mallrats’ director Kevin Smith exposes bitter reality about Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck is not the man he is perceived because his bitter reality has been exposed by directed Kevin Smith.
The 53-year-old American actor, from lead roles to cameo appearance, has been a part of many Smith films.
One of his most notable roles was in Mallrats in which he played Shannon Hamilton.
According to the Clerks director, Affleck almost lost the popular role due to his indecent language.
He disclosed that producer James Jacks was not ready to cast The Accountant actor for the titular role because of his language that he used while working on Dazed and Confused in (1993).
His filthy mouth could have cost him a fortune, but his portrayal during the audition blew everyone’s mind.
In conversation with PEOPLE, Kevin stated, “He's got a potty mouth. He's always cursing. We had him in Dazed and Confused.”
He continued, “There were only a few uses of the word f*** in Dazed and Confused, but when Affleck got there, he increased it. Every scene he's throwing f*** around like crazy.
Therefore, Jack at the time told Smith, “We don't want him in this movie. You’ve got enough bad language in the movie.”
Even though, the producer was against casting Ben for the role, but the actor "wore the character very well" during his audition that completely changed the former’s opinion about him.
Mallrats (1995) was Affleck’s first movie with Smith in which he played a cruel store manager.
