Google Play Store now offers AI-generated summaries for reviews
The new feature will give you AI summaries of app reviews in a novel way
Google’s Play Store has undergone significant evolution since the company started rolling out a new feature that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) summaries for reviews in a limited capacity.
The prime motive of this feature is to save users time by providing an instantaneous assessment on an app’s strengths and weaknesses without having to scroll through thousands of personal viewpoints.
The Play store is particularly introducing AI summaries feature for reviews in a constrained capacity.
Users can select the “Ratings and reviews” section at the bottom of an app listing.
The three-to four-sentence summary underscores both positive and negative user feedback and concludes with a “Summarized by Google AI note.”
The recent update not only provides an AI-generated summary of application reviews but also introduces new filters or “chips” to analyze reviews by specific features or issues.
Following the new feature development, while the ability to filter reviews by specific applications is appreciated, concerns are arising due to AI’s ability to accurately capture and summarize users' issues.
Google Play Store has been experimenting with certain new features and has offered “App highlights” since last year, in addition to AI summaries or reviews for apps and games.
Google is working on incorporating Gemini capabilities for the Play Store and no doubt this feature will present a remarkable step in using AI to elevate user efficiency and app discovery.
