Reese Witherspoon has recently opened up about her experiences battling postpartum depression.

The Morning Show star revealed her honest feelings after becoming a mother to her first daughter Ava in 1999.

“In the first six months, I was simultaneously happy and depressed,” said the 49-year-old in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Reese recalled she would cry all the time and felt exhausted due to inadequate sleep.

“It was a hormone drop I didn’t expect, which I experienced right after birth and again when I stopped nursing six months later,” continued the Legally Blonde actress.

Reese, who became mom in her 20s, shared that it’s hard because people used to give unsolicited advices on “how to give birth, how to nurse and how to feed your baby”.

The Sweet Home Alabama star decided to seek professional help as she disclosed that she had the connections and the means to get to a doctor, a mental-health specialist.

However, Reese admitted that there’s “a lot of people, who don't have this help and they struggle on their own.

“I was probably successful because I had so much anxiety. They go hand in hand,” she remarked.

Dishing out the reason behind her anxiety was the stress to attain perfectionism, noted The Wild actress.

But with time, Reese has started to pace herself a little more.

“I am getting older and am starting to relax into the idea that I’m enough,” mentioned the actress and producer.

Reese added, “I've had an abundance of good fortune, great work opportunities and worked with some of the greatest people on Earth.”
