Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal starred as Agnes and William Shakespeare in ‘Hamnet’
Jessie Buckley shared her working experience with Paul Mescal on the set of Hamnet.
The duo stars as Agnes and William Shakespeare in a historic fiction, based on the tragic passing of their 11-year-old Hamnet which eventually inspired the literary piece, Hamlet.
In an interview with Variety, the Wicked Little Letters actress opened up about the working experience with the Normal People star.
"I've been so lucky with the men I’ve worked with," she said. "Paul is one of the most caring, strong people to work beside. You feel like he has your back completely — no games. He respects women deeply."
The Oscar nominee went on to talk about their strong and creative chemistry, likening it to "Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes or Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor."
"I know we'll work together again," she added.
Previously, during the film premiere at the TIFF, Mescal in a sit-down with Deadline spoke about his chemistry with Buckley, saying that it had been "a wild ride. It was just very, incredibly enjoyable, incredibly intense."
