Charlie Sheen explains truth behind his memoir confessions
Charlie Sheen reclaims his story: 'People may have pictured something that didn’t happen'
Charlie Sheen is back in the headlines after revisiting revelations from his memoir The Book of Sheen and the Netflix documentary Charlie Sheen.
Last month, the former Two and a Half Men star surprised fans by candidly discussing his past sexual encounters with men during the height of his addiction.
At the time, he spoke with unusual openness, describing that period as one of self-discovery when he was “off the pipe” and trying to understand himself. Though he called some of the experiences “weird,” he also admitted that “a lot of it was fun.”
Now, Sheen is clarifying what he meant. In a new interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, the actor addressed misconceptions about his earlier comments.
“When people say ‘sex with men,’ you immediately think of butt sex,” he said. “Sorry to be graphic, but that’s kind of where the mind goes, right? And it wasn’t that.”
Sheen went on to explain that what happened was more experimental than physical. “It wasn’t full-fledged,” he said, comparing it to “that stuff you might experiment with in college,” before joking, “I never went to college, so maybe that explains it.”
He highlighted that his clarification wasn’t about embarrassment. “It’s not a shame thing,” Sheen said. “It’s just that people may have pictured something that didn’t happen.”
He also acknowledged that the encounters “never happened without insane amounts of crack.”
Now living a sober and celibate life for the past eight years, Sheen appears determined to control his own narrative. By revisiting the subject, he says he simply wants people to understand the truth of his story—on his own terms.
