Sydney Sweeney once again has many fingers pointing at her for the place she has come to occupy in Hollywood.
The 28-year-old actress is undoubtedly famous, but sometimes it’s due to the controversies that people are always talking about her.
The Euphoria star recently sparked a wave of backlash after she wore a sheer, bold gown at Variety’s Women Empowerment event, with critics accusing her of being an anti-feminist by appealing to the male gaze, instead of focusing on the empowerment message.
Amidst the social media criticism, Sweeney appeared on the Fox World Series to introduce Game 4 between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays, and that fueled the fire further.
However, an insider shared that Sweeney’s recent role in Christy Martin’s biopic has helped her face the negativity head-on.
“Sydney went through a lot with someone in her past who mistreated her. This person used her and took advantage of her — including financially,” a source told Page Six, adding that the character of Christy “gave her the strength to remind herself who she is,” the source added.
Previously speaking to the outlet, the legendary boxer herself praised the Anyone But You actress’ hard work, saying, “She’s in a tough business as we know. I think she is a strong woman. I hope she finds a little extra strength to be herself, stand on her own two feet and to not let people convince her to do anything that she doesn’t want to.”
