Emily Blunt, who is set to reprise the iconic role of Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada sequel, shared her on-set experience.
Nearly two decades after the original film's release, Blunt is returning to the world she once shared with some of the big names in Hollywood like Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.
In an interview on the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, the Oscar nominee star called her on-set experience, "Overwhelming — in a good way. I’ve never experienced a movie being shot with this much attention."
Talking about struggles of being subtle and secretive with the dresses and other production props, A Quiet Place actress added, "We’re trying to keep the mystique — changing in bathrooms to avoid being seen in costume — but there are fans everywhere."
Blunt went to fondly speak about her character saying, "Playing Emily again feels like slipping into a deranged pair of old slippers. She’s insane, and I love her."
The interviewer than asked the actress for any hints about the sequel. To which she replied, "Disney will come swinging if I say anything. We are still shooting. I had a break to put The Smashing Machine out and then I’m back."
The 2006 hit film is an adaptation of 2003 novel of the same name, written by Lauren Weisberger, which follows, Andy Sachs (Hathaway) a recent college graduate and an aspiring journalist who lands a job as an assistance to Miranda Priestly (Streep).
Andy soon finds herself struggling to meet Priestly’s cut throat demands and seek help from Nigel (Tucci), the magazine’s art director, and have constant competition with fellow assistant Emily.
According to BBC, in the sequel Andy had recently turned 30, was about to get married and was now a successful magazine editor in her own right, working closely with her former Runway survivor Emily - before Miranda re-enters her life.
The Devil Wears Prada is slated for release on May 1, 2026.
