MTV brought an end to one of its longest-running and most popular shows as Ridiculousness was officially canceled after an impressive 14 years and 46 seasons.
The viral clip series, hosted by Rob Dyrdek, became a major part of MTV’s identity since its debut in 2011.
Though new episodes are no longer being filmed, the network plans to air existing ones through 2026, keeping fans entertained for a while longer.
A source close to the channel said the decision was part of MTV’s plan to refresh its schedule and focus on new creative projects that better reflect the network’s original spirit.
For years, Ridiculousness dominated MTV’s lineup, often running for more than 100 hours a week and becoming almost synonymous with the channel itself.
The show, co-hosted by Chanel West Coast and later Lauren “Lolo” Wood, built a strong fan base for its funny takes on viral internet clips and outrageous stunts.
However, viewers loved the easy humour and relaxed energy that made it perfect background entertainment.
Over the years, Ridiculousness aired more than 1,700 episodes, making it one of MTV’s most successful productions.
A Bloomberg report revealed that Rob Dyrdek earned around $32.5 million a year from the series, which, along with changing programming goals, played a role in the network’s decision to wrap it up.
Although the end of Ridiculousness marks the close of an era, fans can still relive the chaos on Paramount+, where the show continues to stream.
