Sidney Prescott is back to face the ghost(face) of her past in the first Scream 7 trailer.
Paramount Pictures dropped the fiery first trailer for Scream 7 on Thursday, October 30, debuting Neve Campbell’s long-awaited return after she sat out the 2023 film Scream VI due to a pay dispute. The 52-year-old actress announced her return in March 2024, saying, “My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never changed.”
The seventh installment — set for release on February 27, 2026 — promises to raise the stakes higher than ever as Sidney faces a new Ghostface killer targeting her daughter in the quiet town she’s tried to rebuild her life in.
“Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all,” the official synopsis reads.
The trailer also reunites franchise favourites Matthew Lillard, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox — with the former two returning from the dead.
Lillard, the OG Ghostface who died in the first movie (1996), confirmed his return in February days after sparking frenzy with a cryptic Instagram post featuring one of Stu’s most famous lines: “My mom and dad are gonna be soo mad at me!!”
Lillard isn’t seen in the trailer, but his voice can be heard in an ominous dialogue at the very end of the trailer: “This is gonna be fun.”
A month later, Arquette’s comeback was confirmed despite his character, Dewey Riley, being brutally killed off in Scream 5 (2022).
Joining the cast are Isabel May and Joel McHale as Sidney’s family, alongside newcomers Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, and Mark Consuelos.
For the first time, Scream creator Kevin Williamson steps into the director’s chair, bringing the franchise full circle after Wes Craven’s passing.
