Marvel's major project that shifted from being movie to series
MCU's 'Avengers: Doomsday' is slated to release on December 18, 2026
Marvel previously scrapped one of the movies from its yearly plan.
Marvel Zombies was originally set to be a movie, but it got made into a series, backed by Disney+
Prior to the release of the four-part miniseries on September 24, director Bryan Andrews opened that he had been planning to make a movie about it initially.
He said in an interview with Variety, “We were going to make it a movie and have it released.”
However, the project got cancelled at the very early stage due to some “contractual issues due to Spider-Man involvement in it.
Andrews told the publication. "We were going to make it a movie and have it released. It should be an epic, it’s gonna be two, two and a half hours long. It’s gonna be amazing. But, there were contractual issues because of Spider-Man in it."
Therefore, after all the roadblocks, the makers shelved the idea of a film and rather made a miniseries.
MCU has entered the phase six with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July, 2025.
The other big films scheduled to release in the phase includes Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars and many more.
